Art News for January
Kindergarten: Kindergarten students are learning about primary colors and how to cut the right way. They will create a collage after the artist Piet Mondrian.
First Grade: Some First Grade classes continue with their paper mache' trees and some classes with tissue bleeding/painting trees to create a winter landscape.
Second Grade students are learning about northern lights (aurora borealis), about polar bears and how to work with oil pastels.
Third Grade students are learning about Japan, cherry trees and how to work with watercolors and tempera paint.
Fourth Grade students are learning about the American artist Faith Ringold and her paintings. They will create an artwork of memories/wishes of: "If I could fly anywhere, I would like to fly..."
Fifth Grade students continue with their grid self-portrait incorporating the style of pop artist Roy Lichtenstein with his dots portraits.
Art Club students continue with their value landscapes.

Art News for December
Kindergarten: Kindergarten students are creating a seasonal/holiday artwork after they read the book "Rudolph Shines Again" by Robert L. May. They continue practicing drawing with lines, watercolors and tempera.
First Grade: Some First Grade classes continue their paper mache' trees for their seasonal artwork.
Second Grade students continue painting their flowers by blending warm or cool colors.
Third Grade students continue with their symmetrical sugar skulls using colored sharpies and watercolors.
Fourth Grade students continue creating new species of an animal and its habitat.
Fifth Grade students continue with their grid self-portrait incorporating the style of pop artist Roy Lichtenstein with his dots portraits.
