Positive/Negative Space
Fourth Grade students continued last year's concept about positive and negative space and created their own artwork out of black and white construction paper. It was a very difficult concept but their beautiful artwork shows their effort and talent!

Paper Mache' Masks
Fourth Grade students learned about paper mache’ and they were introduced to different masks from African countries and masks from the United States, specifically from New Orleans. Students compared the masks by creating a double bubble thinking map. They also learned about the cultural and religious aspects of creating masks in different countries. They used plastic masks, paper mache' paste, newspaper strips, paint, sequins, feathers and paper for decorations. Connections to Social Studies and Art History.
