Kindergarten students learned about the first Element of Art, the line, and the different kinds of lines they can draw. They also learned how to follow directions and how to be comfortable in the art studio. They created a circle map with facts about peacocks and they read the story "Three Hens and a Peacock" by Lester Laminack. They created an artwork by using different kind of lines to make a peacock, and they used crayons and watercolors. Connections to Literature and Science.

Winter landscapes
Kindergarten students learned about collage and landscapes, especially ones depicting the winter season. They learned about background, middle ground, and foreground and about evergreen trees. They understood the concept of perspective through the coloration of the sky as well as the sizes of objects based on distance. They also learned how to hold the scissors and cut the right way. Picasso's bouquet of flowers
Kindergarten students learned about the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso and his artworks, specifically his bouquet of flowers. The students learned how to rip construction paper to make the stems, petals and leaves of their flowers. They traced, cut and glue their own hand to hold their bouquet. Connections to Science. |
